There are two possibilities as to what this is.

The more common, is plantar fasciitis. This is when the fascia, or soft tissue, in the bottom of your foot becomes inflamed. This is a major pain to get rid of and can take up to 3 - 6 months.

You'd be prone to this if you wear high heels or are a runner.

Some tips for treatment: Aleve (or similar drug), wear a night splint to get your foot flexed, wear shoes at all times (except to bed), some stretches, and avoiding activities that aggravate it. You may want to consider getting some cushioned Dr. Scholls shoe inserts... the ones with cushioned heel support. They helped me. Do a search for plantar fasciitis to see if it applies to you.

The other issue is it could be a heel spur. This would probably require surgery.

Either way, do some research. Then call a podiatrist for a more thorough examination.

it is probably a bone spur
it is a easy fix usually with some meds, but you need to see your local doctor just to make sure.
