The simple answer is you just find the conversion factor for any of the metric lengths to English length, and just adjust by factors of ten for the other metric length.

Let me use this forum to comment on the sad state of affairs and ask why the United States is the only industrialized country still using the English system. Even the English don't use the English system. Converting is a total waste of time. Use one system or the other to do whatever. Additionally, teaching conversion techniques is a sad waste of student and teacher time. There are so many things students need to learn yet we continue to waste time teaching them an antiquated measure system and then teaching them how to convert to a modern system.
