When my oldest daughter found out, I asked her the following questions. Why do you think me and daddy do it (buying extra presents)? Because you want us to be happy. Why do you think we want you to be happy? Because you love us. Why don't we just give you the extra presents and not say they are from Santa? Because you want us to believe in something special.

Santa was a real person and though he may be "dead" its the character of Santa that we believe in. Santa is a different person for different cultures, he goes by many names. In that culture he wasn't called Santa but something else and usually he didn't give toys to children but was more like a person that helped the community and its children. In America, we commercialize this jolly figure in red velvet and yes we take our children to see him. Santa is more like a superhero.... they only exist on a fantasy level. Santa should make you feel good and warm and that there is hope for a better moment again. I think all adults should look back on their childhood and remember how they felt when Santa asked what you want for Christmas and if you've been good this year..... But then there is the whole thing that if your a true christian you should remember the real reason of Christmas.

It's not a lie that you will tell the kids that Santa is dead already but the lie is if you will tell the kids that Santa came from/living from North Pole, and that's a great lie for the children...Have you wonder that is there really a North Pole? But we adults don't know it either..Santa Claus lived at Turkey before and sure he really exist during his time but at his time his name isnt Santa Claus or Saint Nick, he has his own name too..And he dont have any reindeer or sleigh. And he isn't living in a cold country. Just tell your children that it's only a tale just to put the spirit of Christmas...Children will believe and understand it by that BUT (there's the BUT) wait tell your kids to grow so that they will understand it clearly..
I remember a game show at Philippines last 2005 and they asked same question too and the person won the grand prize cuz he knew where Santa lived. And I learned from that too cuz we believe the tales while we were at our young age that Santa lived and exist. So we can continue our tradition and wait until the kids will grow and understand the fact.

It's even more eviler to tell people that God doesn't exist. The bible account of the creation of man and the universe, as set forth in the Book of Genesis, is in such contradiction to irrefutable facts that a rational person cannot help but laugh about such fantasies. It may be all right for children to believe in Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy, but functional adults are expected to outgrow such fairy tales.

Santa is named after St. Nicholas, who give presents to poor children on Chrsitmas morning. He left the gifts in their shoes, hence stockings. You don't have to tell kids the man who brings their presents is dead or never existed because he never brought their presents, the parents did. You just have to tell them that it's not who they thought it was. Most kids work it out for themselves before they're told anyway because it becomes blatantly obvious that it isn't possible.

He better come and visit me each Christmas on my husband is in a world of trouble..................forget the red suit, just put the boxes under the tree......................if you do your on line research you will find it was a way to mix pagan and Christian beliefs at one time........it's a great history lesson......search it out and then tell your kids whatever you want. No different than reading children fairy tales or fiction...........what is TRUTH anyway.........subject to each person's belief system anyway
