I was... Surprised to have to pay just under 15% of my total gross income to federal taxes this year. That's not even including the state taxes I paid, in Massachusetts. A religion costs less than that, they only want a tithe! The money seems to be getting squandered, or else just STOLEN.

Who Else is tired of being ripped-off by the government? Who else wants the government to keep their FILTHY hands off our money? Just giving it away to their special interest friends? Please do explain... There is more going on here than I understand....

Please give me examples of how you feel towards the government's insane spending politics. How could it be better? How can we, the people, reform this deplorable situation?

When a corporation donates $100K to a candidate, they expect a return on that investment. Your friendly neighborhood Member of Congress is happy to provide that return, since it comes out of the National Treasury and not his (or her) own pocket.

Eliminate the system that makes Members so dependent on campaign contributions. Each candidate gets an equal amount of free TV time, free radio time, free newspaper space, free mailings, web page, etc. None of these annoying 30 second spots, just the daily speech or debate or whatever.

In short, alter things so that the Members are more concerned with directly winning votes via serving their constituents than with BUYING votes via advertising blitz.

When 40% of your income is taken before you eat, pay bills, do anything, you start getting a little upset when you see able bodied people collecting welfare, workers comp, unemployment etc. The system is messed up. Honest people continue to pay, while a rising number of dishonest collect, without any contribution. I don't mind helping, but I don't see problems being fixed, only getting worse. Every yr taxes are the same or greater. Meanwhile rent goes up, insurance up, utilities up, food-clothing-entertainment up. Salaries, not up so much. We keep paying SS, yet babyboomers are going to bankrupt it... where's the surplus they've created? Oh, Spent every year on other programs. NYC is complaining about reduced terror $$. NYC gets the same $ it spent last year 125mil, still the most in US. Don't waste it. What are you doing w/125m? Was anything purchased that can be used again in 07, please say yes. Giving 125mil to NYC & they say Gov has declared war on NYC? Give me a break. Work w/ the 125m, if you need more, explain why/for what, then gov will decide. 207m last yr to protect/prevent NYC terror, better have multi yr result. Giving other cities $$ must be for "good" reason, not to hurt NYC.

The answer is very simple get the liberals like Ted Kennedy out of office. The US government which is all of us has got too many social programs that should only be the responsibility of the Churches and Charities that get their money from the willing. Many churches have billions of dollars at their disposal. Ask your self the next time you see a church how much did it cost to build that church.. Does God really need that? I don't think so.

I just want someone to tell me who the hell FICA is!!!
I wouldn't mind paying so much in taxes if I could see where my money is going. It certainly isn't to education. Have you talked to some of the school aged youth today? It's scary, Dateline NBC did some street interviews and over half of the HIGH SCHOOL AND COLLEGE aged kids didn't even know who the current Vice President was and they couldn't name three of the constitutional amendments.
Gas prices are ridiculous and the high taxes are supposed to be going to improve our highways. What a joke that is. There are more holes in I-10 than there are in the brains of the kids who don't know that Tallahassee is the capital of Florida (oh and the kids they were asking were from Florida).
Where oh where are my tax dollars going????

I agree. The government should be spending more tax dollars here. There are many people and places in the US that need it. Maybe after Bush leaves office. HA HA

In a democracy you get the government you vote for ;

Be sure to use your vote wisely ,
you should then get the government, who will full-fill all your wishes .

Oh how i wish it was that simple !

Duplicity rules ! what a candidate for office, says before election time,
may soon be replaced by something completely different .
.
Vote wisely, and protest loudly !

I'm tired of hearing people complain. If you don't like it..move, but I guarantee you that you probably won't find a lower tax rate. Other countries are anywhere from 25-75% taxes. Try that out for a year.

I understand your frustration, but you don't expect to live in America and experience all it's freedoms rent-free do you?
I'm sure you can find somewhere else to live with little or no taxes.
Good luck getting on-line over there though...

If you elect touts of the Political parties, who don't understand the welfare of their electors, you are sure to suffer. The best way is don't elect such persons in the next elections.
