I went to a friend's house and they have comcast and hbo on demand, so they can watch a lot of movies anytime they want for free. Does direct tv have something similar to this? I wouldn't mind paying a bit extra, but I don't like pay per view. Do I have to switch to comcast to get hbo on demand?
Thanks.

Directv does not have HBO on demand but like the above response, Directv does have Directv DVR which is something like Tivo. I have a Directv DVR myself and it literally puts you in control of what you want to watch and when you want to watch it.

The whole "On Demand" service is ComCast only, DirecTV does offer a Tivo package which is great but kinda expensive.
