I agree w/ the 2 previous posters. Since I've written on this several times here recently, I won't bore you with a full-length, repeat performance but I will tell you that as a naturopath and as a writer, I've researched this topic several times and have come to the conclusion that it's not only absolutely unnecessary, it's also completely un-natural and potentially dangerous.
Short and sweet--there's NO credible scientific evidence that regular irrigation of the bowel does anything positive. Best Wishes.

If you really are interested in finding out about the benefits of colonic hydrotherapy I have listed two articles below. As far as the answers given so far on the negatives I would like to point out that antibiotics and preservatives in our food are among the many things that also remove the healthy bacteria in the intestinal track. Did you know that we are the only advanced nation that does not automatically give a bottle of acidophilus (replacement of good bacteria) with each antibiotic prescription? My girlfriend recently moved to France and called me one night to ask what acidophilus was. I asked her why she was inquiring and she told me that she had been sick and went to the doctor and he prescribed an antibiotic. When she picked it up it came with a bottle of acidophilus.
When receiving a colonic most therapists will follow it with either an implant (solution retained in the colon) of acidophilus, or a tea that you drink to help replace the good bacteria.

The only real benefits that I can see are that the person carrying out the hydrotherapy gets paid a shed load of money and gets to stick things up your botty!!!!!!!!!!!

You don’t need to exercise for hours on end. Short, sharp sets of exercise will produce better results in the event you work hard. Get a skipping rope, skip for two units, do push ups for a minute or so, skip for two minutes, rest for one minute. Then change the push around something else like sit ups and do the set again. Repeat it five times and it’s a rapid, effective workout that will advance results than a long run or swim.

None and it washes out our healthy bsacteria[needed for, amongst other things dealing with lactose[which otherwise would inflame the intestine/colon]]. Our bodies developed over millions of years, they know how to do things effectively.
I've read most books the library had on digestion and how food works in the body.

To get toxins out of your body. I think it is more worth while if you have a diet that is low in fibre then the digestive system won't do it for you. But if you eat a balance diet full of nutrients there is no need for it, eat plenty of vegetables and fibre and your digestive system will sort itself out.

Music enables you to eat more. According to a work by the journal Psychology and Marketing, soft, classical tunes encourage that you take time over your food, so you consume more foodstuff. So, switch off – silence will make you more aware of what you’re putting in your mouth.

Set performance-based goals. Always set yourself incrementally larger goals each week to be sure you’re engaged and have something to shoot for. Each little achievement is also an incentive that you’re going in the best direction. From doing 10 more squats to mastering a whole new yoga pose, whatever floats the boat.
