I have the same problem whenever I play a Strat [borrowed]. Put me off strats for life - they sound great but are uncomfortable to play IMHO. But if you must play a Strat, the only solution I found was to play with your fingers stretched out not curled under where they hit the control. Makes it awkward to play with both pick and fingers at once but there you go. You can always move up the string a bit for that, away from the bridge.

I have exactly the same problem and the only way I can overcome it is to move my hand away from the bridge. If you like to thrash your chords out with real passion n purpose I'd deffinately consider trying several other types of guitar.

Thankfully I'm a Les Paul man anyway so the strat's just a back-up guitar n used for different tunings etc.

Hmm I'd say don't move your hand so far down.... Try and play high so on the down-strokes of strumming you only just hit all the strings....

Maybe anchor you forearm on the top of your guitar body....

This should stop you hitting the controls... If not email me...
