It isn't considered unlucky but it has a VERY loose connection with the biblical prophecy of the rise of the anti-Christ (due to his mark being 666).
As the date is either 662006 or 6606 or 060606 I don't see the connection - also the current calendar was devised way after the prophecy.
A cynic might say it was something to do with publicity of the release of "the omen" on 0606 2006 but that would suggest that advertisers would exaggerate something ... as if!

It's not considered unlucky. It's considered to be an ill omen, the mark of the beast, the sign of the Devil, the beginning of the end. But before you go jumping off bridges or tall buildings remember we've already had simular dates, 6/6/6, 6/6/1006, 6/6/1906 etc.
Maybe the end of the world already came and we've been left behind! But that's another story.

Only in the Christian West is 666 considered unlucky. For Chinese it is one of the luckiest set of numbers - GOOD OMEN.

In the bible its said to be the day that the antichrist will walk the earth. Ive never read the passage but that is the gist. And i guess you can see why that is unlucky. 666 got a bad rap in my humble opinion.

It's not unlucky but people think so coz they believe it's Satan's(devil) number.

666 is often associated with Satan and evil in general. Also anything in 3's (repeated 3 times) is supposedly considered an insult to the Christian trinity (father, son, holy spirit).

Depends there you are I'm in china. They think the number 6 is a very luckly number and having 3 6's int he date makes today a very luckly number. Maybe it will be luckly for me and give me 10 points!!!!
