Based on the incredibly low quality of their answers (only morons call real football "boring" -- it seem to be too complex for them to understand), I would suggest that "burnt emberes" and "mass.brain" merge their pseudonyms to form one that perfectly describes their mentality: "BURNT BRAIN."
And, "mass.brain", except for the shape of the ball, your "blessed" American "football" has nothing to do with rugby, the latter a really good sport, the former an excrescence.

I've been living outside the US now for a couple of years, and I am starting to gain an appreciation for it (especially after I watched the Champions League match between AC Milan and Liverpool), but there are some things about the sport that are just annoying. First off are the flops or dives. It's really annoying to see a star athlete who gets paid tons of money to play, go flying through the air like he's been shot out of a cannon everytime someone gets close to him.
And there's also the low scoring problem. It makes me sick to watch 90 minutes of anything without anybody scoring. I love American football, but if the score is 0-0 at halftime I change the channel. Maybe they should do away with the whole "offsides" rule. I think that would really open the game up.
Anyway, this is the first World Cup where I've been outside the US, and I do plan to watch as much as possible. And now that the US has their own team in the English Premier League (ManU) maybe soccer's popularity will increase.

Sadly for Americans, there are other countries outside of Canada and the US that take part in this "World Championship" so because an American team is not guaranteed to win, interest is not mega. American soccer has come so far in recent years and i really like their team this year. Also you have the NHL finals right now, the NBA finals right now and there is a great deal going on in baseball to keep most Americans occupied without looking for another sport to watch. If the US got to the final i bet TV ratings would shoot through the roof! I hope The US do well this year and qualify out of their tough group because it will be good for the sport over their. The US ladies team are awesome too! I know most kids play soccer at school but most kids would rather play American Football, Basketball or Baseball. Plus at schools i think most people still regard it as a girls sport where the boys get to wear lots padding, helmets and stand around saying "red dog 49 hut hut..." :P
I hope Canada win the 2010 World Cup ;) /Dream

America is emerging onto the world stage in football unfourtuanetly because more and more are learning to play FOOTBALL properly.
Americans its not soccer its FOOTBALL cos you kick it with your feet.
Obviously you never watch matches like Semi finals and have never watched a tense match that ends in a draw and goes to penalties. Which are even more tense.
Basketball maybe American football however is just rugby with a few more rules and shoulder pads and a wierd scoring system.
Its a game but its effect does much more than you give it credit for. It brings nations together in the biggest sporting event in the world alongside the Olympics. Hopes and dreams are made and destroyed in Football stadiums during the world cup. People from all over the world congragte on one country to enjoy "the beautifal game" played by the greatest artists in the world as the quote goes. Those teams carry the hopes, fears and dreams of entire nations.
Alright the Media go a bit over the top on focusing on team actions outside the games and training I disagree with covering everything footballers do like where they live, who they're going out with etc.

The World Cup does not MATTER. If you can enjoy it, then good for you, but to some of us it is irrelevant and hearing about it CONSTANTLY is so irritating!
For over an hour yesterday, sky news was live outisde the hotel in Germany where the England team would be staying - they hadn't even arrived there yet, but the cameras and presenters were talking about it like it was a major world event. WHY? Why is that important?

Without wanting to sound too disrespectful, I'm not entirely sure all Americans understand the concept of a World Cup.
For example, in America you have the "World Series" baseball, which as far as I can tell involves only teams from America.
Anyhow, that said I like your attitude - and I'm looking foreward to the World Cup too

Go for it, pub-bore. The World Cup is the biggest thing to happen in this country (UK) since we won the Ashes. I think I may pop with excitement before the actual day. Come on England!

It's not that it doesn't matter, it's that the game is incredibly boring, for some, in America we have sports where something actually happens in 90 miniutes, And i like soccer, but if a game ends 0-0 what is in it for the fans?
