Raging hormones, protective parents, life in general

2006-06-05 23:56:38 · answer #1 · answered by Anonymous · 0 0

Hormones, plus the fact that you're experiencing a lot of stuff you haven't experienced before, and you don't have a whole lot to compare it to. For instance, you might think you're in luuuuuv because some guy smiled at you, but you don't have enough experience with relationships to know what they're really all about. Teens feel everything stronger, whether it's good or bad, because of this. And also in a lot of cases you're trying to figure out where you belong in a world that really doesn't make a lot of sense when you stop to think about it.

Because you're beginning to ask the Questions, your first stage of life is almost done (getting used to your body, your world), and you sense that there is something magical here. Who wouldn't be "desperate" to find out what it is?

This is confounded by our society, which keeps pointing you at things that make you want to try them as answers, as solutions, but which of course are pure ephemera, just causing transfers of value and of time.

School & culture have been teaching you for years that there's no such thing as certainty, absolutes and that nothing really matters, except sacrificing to [name the collective].

Consider that this is all wrong and that instead there are absolutes, that you can & should live morally for you own sake & happiness and there's plenty good to be had for those of you that apply yourself.
