Everyday I read here it is like copies of the same questions said 2 dozen different ways.
Do she love me? How can I tell he loves me? What is love? This is not rocket science. All those answers can be found easy in the movie Forest Gump. Forest loved Jenny. He always loved her. He would not put any other woman before her. He would do anything, give anything, sacrifice all that her life be better, no matter how many times she yelled at him, rejected him, rebuked him, or no matter what she did, or how many times she f*** up. Even when he knew she didn't feel the same it made no difference. You want to know if someone loves you? Put them in the "Forest" position. Want to know if you love someone? Put yourself in Forest's position and them in Jenny's. BINGO! You have your answer. As for true love, just look at what Christopher and Donna Reeves had. Though he was paralyzed to the point he could not wipe his own a** she was there by his side, supporting and protecting him to the end

Have to dumb it down I see. Forest was used because everyone knows him, they don't know Lenny and Stella etc. If everyone knew if they had love, they would not be asking all those question on it. It is the misunderstanding of love that causes people to think it is differnt on the south side then the east. Or not know love from infactuation(crushes). If love can be equated to how intelligent you are. The people of Mensa should be tho most in love people around. Love is not based on intelligence.

thank you so much for writing this all out. I couldn't agree with you more. please, can you post this multiple times on the site in singles&dating everyday so these tiny kids out there can understand this? PEOPLE: if you have to ask if they love you, it's not true love. if you especially have to ask strangers on the internet if your crush loves you, you're just asking for it..they don't love you. 'love' is such an overused word here.

I don't entirely agree with that, but then again it was a rant/not really a question asked of the community, a question asked/answered by the asker.

I believe you are way more tolerant of those you love, but I would not put up with a Jenny.. for 20 years. But then I'm strict that way I guess. I will tolerate a lot of mistakes, but Forest wasn't the brightest star in the sky either.

So at the end of the day, I believe we tolerate way more than we would for those we love, but when it is 'them or you' you must always take care of you.. even if that means so a "Jenny" type could come back to you someday.

If ya expect to be able to crap on your partner for 20 years and use that do define love, God Help ya!

Rocket science is easy in comparison. It follows certain laws of physics, so you have things like ballistics and orbital mechanics which can be explained by a few simple rules. Affairs of the heart, however, follow no such rules, no such laws of physics, so it is a different matter of interpretation entirely and infinitely more complicated.

Narrative to the question itself had answer by you of different situations of love, as understood or felt by you. Love at different level will not be the same. Love in whatever form or magnitude will be felt and comprehended by you at the demanded occassion and you will be tempted to reciproacte also. No international stand of love coudl be availed, you understand!

According to Robert Sternberg's research, "Love" is an emotion consisting of three components: intimacy, passion & committment.

Intimacy, the feeling close and connected to someone (developed through sharing and very good communications over time). Intimacy is what makes you want to share and offer emotional and material support to each other.
-Intimacy alone is Liking (true friendship without passion or long-term commitment)

Passion, the feeling physically aroused and attracted to someone. Passion is what makes you feel "in love" and is the feeling most associated with love. It also rises quickly and strongly influences and biases your judgment.
-Passion alone is Infatuation (passionate, obsessive love at first sight without intimacy or commitment)

Commitment, pledging to your self and each other to strengthen the feelings of love and to actively maintain the relationship. Commitment is what makes you want to be serious, have a serious relationship and promise to be there for the other person if things get tough.
-Commitment alone is Empty Love (decision to love another without intimacy or passion)

Romantic Love: Intimacy & Passion, no Commitment
-Lovers physically and emotionally attracted to each other but without commitment
-“As in a summer romance”

Companionate Love: Intimacy & Commitment, but no Passion
-Long-term committed friendships or a marriage in which the passion has faded
-I love you but I’m not IN love with you

Fatuous Love: Passion & Commitment, but no Intimacy
-Commitment based on passion with without time for intimacy to develop
-Shallow relationship such as a whirlwind courtship

Consummate Love: A complete love consisting of all three components

i totally agree with what you said :] forest gump shows the perfect example of what it's like to love someone unconditionally, without having to be God..

but just for formality's sake, i'll answer your question anyway [haha]: i don't think it's rocket science to know if someone loves you, or if you ove them.. it's more than that. it's something that only you will be able to understand. if you truly love them, you'll just know. you'll feel it. ;}

god bless!
