Passports are forged easily. Passports are lost, stolen, etc. Although no form of id is perfect, passports have many vulnerabilities. BTW, passports are considered id's for international travel. Customs usually wont accept anything else. But if I were a banker and someone wanted money and only had a passport as id, I wouldnt accept it. Would you?

You mean rather than having a separate ID card don't you?

Well it's because the government want to be able to get your eye scan and your fingerprints as well as every other detail about you. They don't need that on passports at the moment.

(I don't agree with ID cards)

really it can be considered as IDs. most places like credit cards etc ask for the passport for verification. so more or less it is like an id.

I always thought a passport was a form of ID. I wouldn't take it with me on a night out however as I don't want to risk losing it. I tend to take the photocard part of my drivers licence as it is creit card sized hence it fits in my purse!

You're right. It'd save a fortune.
Plus if passports and credit cards can be faked or stolen and misused, so can id cards.

Your passport is your primary form of ID. If you have one, it's always accepted as proof of identity.

I like this question as I have no drivers license any more and nobody wants my passport as I.D. I'll be watching for some logical explaination too. I honestly don't think there is one!
