Definitely get rid of the rock bedding. The best bedding is aspen, newspaper , or even paper towels. You can even buy carpet bedding sheets.
Don't ever use pine or cedar, the oils in them can kill your snake.
As for the heat rock... GET RID OF IT!! Snakes can get severely burned by them(snakes can't tell when it is too hot and won't necessarily move when they are burned) and they are not recommended. Not to mention, they do not heat the entire cage well enough, just the area of the rock.
Get an above the tank heat lamp that uses a regular 60 watt bulb is fine. (less than $10 at any hardware store) or undertank heater.
Anything than the snake can come into contact with is not good.
As for feeding your snake.. I am not sure how big your snake is, but it could eat mice or rats. Mice are not going to hurt it anymore than rats are. Just make sure not to give it too large a meal and don't ever leave a live food item in the cage with the snake. The snake could become the food item.Rats(larger than fuzzies) especially are known to gnaw on snakes when left in cages with snakes for too long. If you are worried feed frozen/thawed.
Good Luck!

I cannot allow such answers to exist without one that is at least correct.
First the gravel is totally fine to use for a bedding. And a heating rock is perfectly fine and mostly recommended, but try covering it with the gravel a little bit. Also baby rats are more expensive than mice, which are more than OK to use.
A light source above does help with the snake, but remember to only use it for 10-12 hours a day and keep it off the rest. If it is a good size snake you may want to upgrade to a 20 long or high tank as the 10 might be a little small. I have my tank in a 35 gallon right now and am going to upgrade to a 75 gallon soon and a 125 in the long run. You have to remember that they want room to move around.
Having a reptile, especially a snake, gets very expensive and timely. You have to have the resources and energy to take care of them.

ok, never never feed ur snake mice, they r mean, use baby rats. and the bedding cannot be rocks, it should be pine shavings or newspapaer. u should use a light bulb heat source from above the tank and outside the cage so the snake does not get wrapped around it
becuz a heated rock will burn ur snake.dont put anything from the outside in the tank, u could give the snake mites if he does not already have them. if u have any other specific questions im me at bkclpn2000 on yahoo or email me at the same
ive raised snakes for a few years now and have learned from mistakes and from research
and i like to chat about reptiles

I agree with Jen.
The heatrock is a BAD idea. Use a heatlamp on top of a screen aquarium cover, dont put it on plastic!
Also, when feeding the snake pinkies that are frozen, make sure you get them down to room temperature, do not feed the snake cold pinkies. You have to thaw them.
Good luck with the snake and it was really nice of you to try and take care of it after what happened. As a snake/reptile lover, I appreciate that!!
Good luck!

I have to add in a few corrections. Yes the gravel is fine, if you want your snake to accidentally eat it while eating the mouse/rat and then get impacted, then die. And also pine is ok, if you want your snake to be poisoned, then die. (I am not sure what it is, but I was told by a snake breeder that it will poison them) The best bedding to use is newspaper (with nontoxic ink), aspen (With no added anything), or indoor/outdoor carpet. Those are the ones that were most recommended to me when I first started keeping reptiles.

get rid of the hot rock, they will burn the snake.Feed it pre-killed mice/rats and do your best too guess what size food too feed it. You should also get a basking lamp for heating and a thermometer for the aquarium. Also consider that you will probably need to get a 20 gallon tank when the snake gets bigger. Good luck!

sounds terrible but 'pinkies'- baby pink mice if it's small- some places you can buy them frozen- or if it's abigger snake- mice- but they must be dead- as the mice can injure the snake
