This is a good rule of thumb for any grade level:

Before you write: Write an outline. Consider the following questions:
-What's your topic? (phrase it in a question)
-What is your answer to the topic?
-Why do you feel this way? (List at least three examples)

Start your essay in an outline form so that you can gather your thoughts.
Now you can get started on expanding your examples. You'll find that your ideas are now flowing pretty well and you'll want to start writing the essay itself. So, on to the basics:

Basics:
First paragraph: The Introduction. Start with an interesting sentence to pull the reader in. State your thesis (main idea) and provide at least three examples to prove your thesis (main idea).

Subsequent Paragraphs: Start with the first example you put in your introduction and explain it with details in your first paragraph. Use a new paragraph for each example. If you've found that you talk about two of your examples in the same paragraph, you need to break apart the paragraph so that each example has its own. If you can't, perhaps the two are too much alike and you need to find one more example/point to prove your thesis (main idea).

Final Paragraph: Your conclusion. Tell the readers a summary of what they just read. You should repeat your thesis (main idea) but not in the same words you used in your introduction.

In general, your essay should: tell them what they're going to read about, explain what they're going to read about, and then tell them what they just read. Also, in a FORMAL essay, never use personal pronouns such as I/me/my or slang words. Picture that you're going to give this essay to your 70 year old grandmother. Will she be able to understand the words you use?

Transition words such as "therefore," "however," and "Additionally" help to make a paper flow better. Try reading the paper aloud as you write it. You should be able to read it fluidly. If there's a part that seems jumbled, it probably is.

http://www.apurnell.com/wilreadings/Elements.htm provides a good overview for a college-level paper. Aiming for a high goal such as this is good at any grade level. It helps you become a better writer and a better student. Also, ask a teacher if he/she could read over your paper sometime before a due date to give you pointers on how to strengthen your argument. Try to give them at least a couple days time to read over the paper and give it back to you.

Also, never use websites with free papers or those you have to pay for. Most contain glaring errors that any teacher will pick up on. Also, a lot of teachers are familiar with these types of sites and own software to check for plagarism. If you're smart enough to ask for help, then I'm sure you're smart enough to write a great paper. Best of luck.

It basically depends what year level your in.
A basic essay consists of 5 paragraphs -
Introduction -
The body - Which consists of 3 paragraphs
Conclusion - A short summary of all the paragraphs put together in one.
Make sure you have topic sentences at the start of each paragraph. And for the body you should have at least 7 lines minimum.
Try and have correct spelling and grammar.
You sentences have to make sense.
It also depends on what kind of essay your trying to write ex- a persuasive essay is when you either disagree or agree with a topic , so you have to try and prove the reader that you're right you do so by writing what you think in the body the intro is left for you to explain what the topic is and how it relates to whatever.
If your essay needs to be around 300-400 words and you have alot to write about , then use words that describe a whole sentence.

1) An essay can have many purposes, but the basic structure is the same no matter what. You may be writing an essay to argue for a particular point of view or to explain the steps necessary to complete a task.

Either way, your essay will have the same basic format.

If you follow a few simple steps, you will find that the essay almost writes itself. You will be responsible only for supplying ideas, which are the important part of the essay anyway.

Don't let the thought of putting pen to paper daunt you

1)- use formal words: don't use words like "funny" and "nice" , instead use " hilarious" and " interesting".

2)- be PURELY objective: use only pronouns "we " or "you" . please don't use "I" for it is very subjective.

3)- start with an introductory paragraph : A)- write a "topic sentence" that shows BRIEFLY the idea or the subject-matter of the essay and what you will talk about.

B)- write a thesis statement >> this statement is replaced at the end of the introductory paragraph. In it you give a glimpse of what you'll write about in the next paragraph which is "body paragraph".

3) Body paragraphs: this is where you explain your essay ideas WIDELY and NOT BRIEFLY and please with lots of examples.

4) conclusion paragraph: where you conclude your essay or wrap it up by SUMMARIZING or PARAPHRASING what you have already said in the introduction or body.

NOTE**>> in conclusive paragraph, please don't put some new idea that is not presented before in body paragraphs. Conclusive paragraph should only include the paraphrasing of what you already presented.

hope i was helpful to you, dear ;)
