It almost seems to me like a form of mind/thought control. Telling me how to think and what to say.

It's tolerance gone astray.
I don't care about being PC, but, if you take a look around the internet, it's not only the government who is obsessed, private citizens are also stomping out anything that might even remotely offend anyone, anywhere.

If you take that into consideration, it's an attempt at taking away our right to free speech.

Hi yer matey, basically, my opinion is, the Media has the most power in the UK, so the members of Parliment, have to tread on egg shells to be seen as perfect, if they step out of line, then the press are ruthless in exposing the negativity that occurs, plus there are watchdogs and regulators observing that practices and policies within the body-politic are correct, and beneficial to the population of the UK, if there is corruption, in ANY, of the main parties, then the Public have a right to know. I feel for Tony Blair, because he's walking a tight-rope, and the British people are waiting for him to fall down, which is wrong, in my opinion. When you're a Leader, you have to Lead, now I know a lot of people, are against us going into Iraq, but the US are our greatest friends and Allies, when we needed help in World War 2, the Yanks came to our aid, and we owe them our help, its a matter of Honour, now where are the French, the Germans and all the other backing out nations, when the **** hits the fan, with these terrorists, the US & UK, can hold their heads up high, and say, at least we had the balls and conviction to stand up to Tyranny, and nobody can take that away from us, be proud, Rooseavelt and Churchill, Bush and Blair, will go down in history as men who had the courage to fight Evil and come out on top, WHOA HAAAR!

History is the greatest judge so politicians are always aware of how they and their decisions will be viewed as they look for immortality. Sadly for them we forget most of them but their decisions can leave a legacy of mistrust between nations. For example the post WW1 repayments demanded by the French from Germany triggered the economic crisis of pre WW2 Germany and started WW2. Now that's a politcally incorrect opinion but hey it's got fact behind it!

You can think what ever you want (as long as you don't say it) and no one will care (if you hide it well enough). The thing that is really nice about thoughts (they are listening) is that they are yours (can I say that?) and no one (except for THEM) can take them from you (as long as they support the state's agenda). So don't worry about being politically correct (they are coming for you), just be yourself (in a conforming way) and you will enjoy your life (even if it is now over). Take care (Hail Fatherland) and always remember, we are behind you all the way (until the thought police come) in what ever choice you make in your life. :)

oh like what the Vietnam war?

They need votes, that is their concern.

If they cared about political correctness we would have a free media of the people not propaganda.

It has to do with their getting elected that's all. A government official wants every vote and to get that he/she can not piss off any one.

You wouldn't vote for anyone that disrespected your race religion etc. and you would not vot for a person who just could not speak well either.

“Propaganda is to a democracy what the bludgeon is to a totalitarian state.” - Noam Chomsky

It's all just propoganda - the government doesn't care about minorities just minority votes. Government is not a moral institution.
