No chance Dumbledore is not dead because there is a lot to prove he is not dead. When Harry said everyone that Dumbledore was dead he could hear the song of the phoenix couldn't he that means that the phoenix was healing Dumbledore. And when Snape was about to put the killing curse on Dumbledore his face was filled with hatred not of Dumbledore but of himself because he was going to put the killing curse on Dumbledore, the one who commanded him to do so.Actually Snape is on the goods working for Dumbledore secretly.I've given you so much information plz appoint my answer as the best answer .All I said is true .Check in the book.ok bye now

Yes, Dumbledore is indeed dead. He was blasted with the killing curse and fell of the astronomy tower. Come on people, did you read Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince or not? I felt that the chapter about Dumbledore's funeral was written with such passion. It would be extremely cheap if J.K. Rowling were to come back in book seven and be like, "Gotcha, everyone! Dumbledore's alive and here do pilot Harry's adventure for him!" If Dumbledore were to come back in the last book of the series, I would be very disappointed. Harry needs to go out on his adventure by himself.
If you are not convinced, here are some other reasons:

1. If Dumbledore did not die, why didn't Snape from breaking the Unbreakable Vow with Narcissa Malfoy? Snape would die if he broke his promise to protect Draco. If Dumbledore were still alive, that would contradict Snape's vow.

2. What do you say about Dumbledore's portrait? J.K. Rowling specifically mentions a portrait of his being hung in the office with all the previous headmasters and headmistresses. In the Potterverse, they are only of dead people.

3. In an interview by Emerson Spartz and Melissa Anelli, J.K. Rowling responded to "The wise old wizard always dies," with "That's what I'm basically saying, yes." J.K. Rowling wouldn't lie to us.

For those of you who believe that Dumbledore is alive, you may need to go back and do some re-reading.

I do not think so, I think it is a ruse to finally bring Voldemort out into the open. Dumbledore is just under a spell that Snape put on him to make him appear dead so everyone believes. I cannot wait until book 7 comes out and reveals all.

yes, they buried him and remember in one of the books and i can not remember which one but Dumbledore told harry we can never bring back the dead.

How many times did you re-read that paragraph to really believe what happened to Dumbledore? I read it three times before it finally set it. Snape killed him,,but was it a plan set by Dumbledore himself??

yup, snape killed him, but i believe only becos dumbledore told him to. If snape kills D then voldemort would trust him without doubt. And he can give all kinds of help to harry. Atleast thats what i believe. We'll see in the seventh book.

Yes Snape killed him. Who knows what will come out of it. But he is the most powerful wizard. Maybe he will be one of the ghost of Hogwarts or maybe he will come back one last time to help Harry beat Voldemort. Can't wait until July of 07 to find out.

Dumbledore may be dead, but he is still alive through his portrait, which maybe will guide Harry.

ya he does and its really sad that he REALLY is dead .it took some time to sink in,it was kind of unexpected .that too by snape, out of all the people!as malfoy was unable to perform the task, snape does it!harry potter is about to leave school and go in search of the horcruxes(not sure about the spelling!) of voldemort by himself with the help of ron and hermoine.

i might want to think of so, yet I doubt it. His dying did no longer leave lots possibility for a return, even however Conan Doyle did something comparable and introduced back Sherlock Holmes. i think of he will proceed to be deceased and "stay to tell the tale" in HP's innovations and skills, and that if he does reappear, it will be in desires or visions.
