Because the urethra (the tube that carries urine from the bladder to the outside) is only 4 cm long in women compared to 20cm long in men. This means that lots of bugs from the skin can go up the urethra and enter the bladder in women, causing infection, whereas in men it's much harder for them to actually reach the bladder. Also because in women, the urethral orifice is relatively close to the vagina and anus, which are common areas for bugs.

For a very simple reason. I learned this in medical school.

A males urethra is aboue 6-7 inches long. Much further a passage for bacteria to reach the bladder. Guys will urinate it out before the bacterium can crawl that far up.

Womens urethras are much shorter ( we don't have a long penis).
Ours is only about 21/2-3 inches long. It doesn't take very long for bacteria to travel to reach the bladder.

Also, when WE sit down without panties on, we're sitting on top of a lot of germs.

A guys anatomy doesn't have that problem. Your penis doesn't touch what you're sitting on , like it does with us.

Women are prone to bladder infections beacuse the distance between our anus & vagina is so small.

Some females still wipe from the back to the front without realising.

The rectum has so much bacteria around it and the man could be around that area before entering you (accidently, on purpose....)

Men do get cystits but they have only a short space for it to fester in where as we have the womb & everything else.

THe urethera in women is closer to the outside of the body. If women wipe the wrong way you can cause yourself to have more infections. The entrance to mens bladder is through the outside of penis and it takes longer trip to mens bladder than a womans bladder. If woman has bladder infection drink cranberry juice and lots of water.

The female urethra is shorter than the males! Thus the male is less likely to get a chill or infection of the bladder!

Despite some interesting takes on anatomy in some of the answers here, it's just because the female urethra is shorter than the male urethra.

This makes a cystoscopy on a female a lot easier than on a male, so... swings and roundabouts.

very simple answer. The route from the outer germy part of the body to the male bladder is long. The route in the female body is quite short allowing in more germs and infection.

yes, women get bladder infections more often because woman's urethra is anatomically shorter than man's and bacteria can get inside very easy. Urethra, vagina and anus are very close to each other and it's very important to be careful when using toilet paper after defecating.

May be accumulation of urine in bladder may be for longer duration and frequency of urination less in women due to practical difficulties.Men can do it easily as the organ is outside and fementation of urine/bacteria less because of this.
