Man & woman stay together because they choose to make the other a priority in their life. When this choice has been made & both partners KNOW this the bonds become so much stronger between them & they feel like they could do almost anything as long as they were together.

Because, contrary to the "village" line, it takes a couple to raise a child. The pronatalism (extended infancy) of humans is the longest in the animal kingdom. Humans are not sexually mature for 9-13 years! The are not socially mature for 16-20 years!
While some extraordinary individuals may be able to successfully nurture and acculturate a kid by themselves, they are the exceptions, not the rule.
Like it or not, "a chicken is an egg's way of making more eggs." and "a human is a baby's way of making more babies." The species has the drive to survive.
Of course, that doesn't explain Republicanism.

What rule are you talking about here? When you get married you vow before God to stay married no matter what until death do you part so i guess God made the rule from the beginning when he first created Adam and Eve. God's design for marriage is perfect.

hmmm... good question... maybe its just that it was trendy for a while... so everyone started doing it... of course if ur a believer u should know that god said he made the woman for Adam... bla bla bla...
i dont know anyway... just live a bit... experiment if u want... but i bet u that there is nothing best than combining both (not in a sexual intercourse way), i mean have a great girl friend, and have great friends... that is life... that is the joy...

well to reproduce and to know each other well.this is not a rule but a feeling which we get from inside...............a feeling of love .................a feeling of staying together.
two couples can stay away from each other but then there will nit be a feeling of possesion between two person
