I used to really enjoy the eurovision, but in recent years it's gone down hill. I agree with the 2nd answerer, all countries need to go back to singing in their native tongue, and it really needs to stop being quite so political, insomuch as a lot of the low countries all vote for one another, and also, since when, apart from that 1 odd crap novelty song in the summer, do Brits produce rubbish like that Daz Sampson, the music needs to be a true reflection of what your countries music scene is like.

the eurovision is absolute SHITE. What good has ever come out of it since ABBA. Nothing at all. I'm from Ireland and i think we've won it 8 times more than anyone one else but all the song's have been brutal. Look at that sickening shite that entered for us this year, Bryan Fecking Kennedy. It should be scrapped and all the money used on something more constructive. Or all the profits the tv and phone companies make from it should be used to improve health and education issues across the poorer states in europe. At least there would be some use out of it then.

Definitely. The last time the UK won was with a Canadian-born singer, Katrina Leskanich (and the Waves). As for that heap of drivel by Daz Sampson, seems to prove that we have lost our way when it comes to putting out decent performers. Plus I consider that the amount of certain countries giving preferential treatment to others (such as Greece awarding twelve points to Cyprus, and vice-versa) just trivialises the whole thing. It's all just politics now. Yes, we can still laugh at Norway twice scoring zilch in 1980 and 81, but the whole thing is now just an anachronism, and it's well past it's sell-by date. Eurovision Song Contest - you are the weakest link.....GOODBYE!

Go back to singing in your own language and bring back the orchestra and the jury. The phone-in thing just doesn't work. Some countries win just because their citizens live everywhere in Europe. For instance Turkey will almost always get 12 points from Germany and Holland. This is not fair. Male perfomers also have a bigger chance of winning as girls phone in a lot more than boys.

The visual aspect has gotten too important and the importance of the song itself diminishes. Put on a rock n roll horror show, perform practically naked or have your country represented by a transvestite and you're a winner.

Finland deserved to win. There entry was the funnest, notice we all remember it, I think they captured the spirit perfectly! I agree with, well everyone it seems, own-language must be reintroduced if Eurovision is too have a future.

Countries should definitely sing in their own language, what's the point in representing your country and then singing in English? Also, the voting is far too political with neighbouring countries constantly giving each other points.

I don't think it should be scrapped as it's a laugh and quite entertaining in a cheesy way.
