i dont think 'partnered' is a slang here

I'm from Australia, and I have not heard of the term that is specific to Australian slang. I think it is generic teenage term for getting a partner, but not necessarily in a romantic relationship. It could simply be a partner for a school project.

yea, it's not as politically correct in Australia to use boy/girl friend, husband, wife, etc...... everyone just uses "my partner"
...more ambiguous but it covers everyone.
