herz... never clean urine with bleach! urine containes ammonia, ammonia releases the chlorine gas from the bleach...chlorine gas is toxic & potentially fatal!

there is a product called "get serious" that they sell at most pet stores, it is amazing, it removes stains & odors and pheramones, so if it is pet urine they will not have the urge to "mark " there again. I use it for "potty training" accidents as well... it even removed menstral blood! here is a link so that you can see what it looks like. they have it at most pet stores

By FAR the BEST product-- especially for odors:

Kids 'N' Pets

Quart sized-- about 4 bucks -- I can only find it at Wal-Mart.
Typically, works best if you use it first before you use any other cleaners, since some cleaners can actually "set" the stain. But I have used it on old stains and it still can work.

Took that really strong cat urine odor out of my rugs.
Took cat vomit out in seconds.

Dissolves fresh blood stains in seconds-- actually "digests" odors and stains!

Chocolate stains-- easy work.

You do NOT need to scrub it-- just rub it around.

Afterwords-- if there's any color left at all, use Folex carpet cleaner from Home Depot-- just spray it on -- should finish it off nicely. But you definitely want to use the enzyme cleaner first before you set the stain. I would NOT use heat until you do this. Soak it good, let it dry. Then you might want to use a steam cleaner to get the residue out-- but neither cleaner has ever seemed to leave a residue, other than the residue of the poop/vomit/etc. itself, which you should scrape away as well as you can first anyway.

The great thing about the Kids 'N' Pets is that the cats never peed there again, proving that there wasn't even enough odor left for them to notice. Pretty amazing--

Good Luck!

Call Stanley Steamer and let them professionally clean the mattress. In the meantime, get a waterproof mattress pad and keep on the bed in case it happens again. If this is animal urine -- don't allow the pet on the bed again.

My aunt used to spray lemon juice from a spray bottle and then put the mattress in the sun for a day. I guess it worked I never smelled the urine again.

The first thing that I would do is to tell the wife that one of the children wee-weed the bed. Then she would either order a new mattress or tell the housekeeper to take care of it. Either way, it's not something that a man should even think about trying to handle on his own because men just aren't good at these types of things.

The best way and easiest way.

Take the matress outdoors into the sun
Pour plain water onto the spot and soak the entire area.
Let the water evaporate and the urine should be gone.
