once you get to viet nam getting around from town to town on your own is very simple. train and plane tickets can be purchased at the respective stations or at any number of travel agencies you will see all over the place. if your staying at at "swank" "flash" hotel.. you will get all the help you need at the desk. if you are going the "back packer "route, sinh cafe, tm brothers are just a cpl of travel services you will find that can take you around to the tourest attractions or get you on an air conditioned bus from town to town... open tickets are available and take priority over other travelers. the most fun and rewarding way to see everything is to get yourself a good motorbike guide for the day , [most motor bike drivers are very trust worthy, use your instincts in meeting one and agree on a price ahead of time , be specific and write it down in a note pad... even the most honest drivers MAY ask for more at the end of the day ]... $7-$10 us is usually a fair price , unless you are riding long distances all day... then about $30 is fair. but i wouldnt recommend traveling more than 2- 3 hrs at a time.. it can be rough... albiet rewarding... be adventurous!

When I go to Viet Nam I use American Airlines and JAL (Japan Airlines) through American Airlines. They give great prices.
