RompingWillyBilly: Suppressing emotions is what an adult does, eiji. We do this so that children can express their emotions for emotional development.

what rubbish, if children see adults as role models and learn from their behaviour then its no wonder that children learn to supress/repress their own emotions as adults themselves. its a bit of a sweeping statement as not all adults supress their emotions. i for one do not supress my emotions.

If your children supress your emotions, you are teaching them to supress their own - to to develope them. What adults do is express their emotions, so that children can learn to do likewise (among many other reasons).

But in order to do that one must have first suficently developed their own emotions to the point where they are able to feel, or at the very least express emotions other than anger, and rage. -- And that takes experiance with emotions - which requires NOT suppressing them.

But yes, lots of adults DO supress their emotions - but that does not make it right or healthy, or good.

Romping Willy is just trying to use that "I do it for the children" line as an excuse for not having to contend with the emotions he has, but does not like - eventually however he will have devoted all of his avalible energy to supressig his emotions that he will either cease to function, or melt-down. That is what panic attacks are born from.

Who says adults suppress their emotions? I am very emotional and I let everyone know my feelings.

A child does what an adult shows them to do. If the adult supresses emotions, that's what the chld will do. It's called vicarious learning!!
