The question might better be asked why words rhyme at all.
And how is it that all languages have so enough rhyming words that there could even be an expectation that all words should have rhymes. I think that words that rhyme with month might be very sexy if we could figure out what the first couple of letters should be...and maybe what they should mean..we definitely need a few good words around here...there are lots of concepts that don't have any words at all and rhyming has so many...Maybe we could name some genetically modified fruit quonths, I'd like that. I hope they are yellow.

Not all of the sound combinations in English have been exhausted. Although it is possible for us to have words that rhyme with these, they just haven't been invented yet.

This topic comes up quite frequently on Yahoo! Answers, actually, so you might want to search back and look at some of the off-rhymes that people have proposed. One of my favorites was "door hinge".

Could it be a turtle,
But what about an orange,

But when I come to month,

orange could be "A Mange" "A Range" or completely differently then "range" bit of orange rhymes with "Tinge" like a tinge in my back. Month rhymes with the onomatopoeic word "Humph!" and purple with "Myrtle" or "turtle" would be my best bets...
