You can get one when you are between 4 and 8 centimeters dilated. But you might want to see if you can do it without the epidural. I've delivered 2 babies and I went natural both times. No woman has ever died from the pain of childbirth. It's safer for you and baby to avoid the needles and drugs. You can do it! Best wishes!

i haven't yet had an epidural, yet lots of my woman pals have had their toddlers already and have pronounced that the epidural does not harm in any respect. related to is there a cut back off component, I asked this very question at exertions & transport and lower back to my OB and that all of them pronounced that there is not any actually cut back off... The nurses will attempt and convince you to no longer have it in case you're very close to to ten cms because of the fact the epidural can sometimes sluggish the form down...yet you will have it each and every time! think of roughly in case you will desire to have a C-area, you have been already 10 cms and pushing and the toddler purely wasn't coming so they desperate that is suited to get the toddler out asap...you will desire to have an epidural while having a c-area so in the event that they are able to furnish it to then you definitely, then why no longer at 7 or 8 cms???? No concerns hun! You go so a good distance as you may, the extra you go without an epidural the least opportunities you will would desire to have intervention to get toddler out. i'm pushing for six cms and go from there. :-) solid success!!!

My wife waited as long as she could. When she could not stand the pain for another second she called the nurse and asked for the epidural now.

The nurse told her "Oh he just went into another procedure and will not be able to come out until at least 45 min"

Be careful about waiting to long. It was a very very long 45 min.

I would ask your doc. because it differs from place to place. they gave me a 3. But was 3 for a month before my water broke. The gave it to me early, because the doc doing it was on the floor. He was there because someone was having and emergency c-section.
