Is Ignorance really bliss?

yes. there are some things I am much happier being clueless about like what kind of panties the girl at the bakery is wearing or how often my parents had sex before I was born or how many times the guy I work with plays with himself during the day.

I'm also happy not knowing about every single detail about a celebrities personal life or how the inside of a computer works or how airplanes stay in the air, etc.

If I knew everything about everything, I'd be sick with worry (that is if my head didn't explode first). So in some instances, ignorance really is bliss.

It depends on the type of ignorance you are talking about. Ignorance of ones immediate environment or work related environment is not a bliss but ignorance of religion and religious doctrines is a bliss becuase if you are not developed a stereotype thinking- u are much more relaxed and open to explore ur inner self

Yeah it is bliss... if you dont know about something you can't stress over it.

On the other hand, if what you know isn't the truth then it could be bad. For example, the mainstream media presenting all the bad things about the war in Iraq, and most people being out of the loop of all the people that are happy we are there and the soldiers having fun while there.

i think it can be in some situations. i mean, lets say you had a boyfriend who you loved and something happened and he died. ok, you would be able to get over it and live your life knowing you loved him. but what if you found out that he had been cheating on you and that was the night he died? how would you feel about his death then? see, looking at this situation you may say "well i would have wanted to know" but in reality, you wouldnt have. not knowing (ignorance) is going to bring you more peace than knowing. lets take another situation, say you wanted a computer, it was the best computer in the world but it cost 12 thousand dollars and you know you would never be able to afford it. would you be upset? of course you would be. but lets say you never knew what a computer was, then you would have no reason to be upset over the computer you cant have. not knowing what it is keeps you happy. so yes, in some cases, ignorance can be bliss.

Sometimes not knowing can save us some undue pain, but I am a firm believer in knowledge being power. The more we know, the more basis we have for making decsions and forming opinions. So, no ... ignorance is not bliss.

The statement "ignorance is bliss" is a demonstration of the concept of irony. Ignorance IS bliss to the ignorant, because they don't know what it is not to be ignorant.

I think ignorance can seem more "blissfull" to the peeps that live to worry. If your secure in yourself then reality is the only way, a life lesson. For me anthing else is sticking your head in sand/ running from your problems.
