Michigan has lots of lakes and plenty of open land. The winters get cold but it is quite worth it. There are farmlands here too. I love it here. Good Luck.

I thought that I was tired of city life. Moved to a rural area out of necessity (rehab) and never moved home (New Orleans) it has been 5 years and God I miss home (some home now--huh?)
There was always something to do no matter th time. I went one day to put gas in the car at 9p at night and all the gas stations by my house were closed. Good luck to you----not sure where you'd actually look but I saw a tv segement about people looking for roommates that work out a barter srv, reduced or free rent in exchange for cooking/cleaning.
