Yes Sameer is a very good name.

The name of a child depends on what the surname is, wether the first name can be shortened and what the intials are going to be. Sameer is a nice name, but make sure that his initials dont stand for anything!!!

Hmmm... is this an alternative spelling of "Samir"? Samir (سمير) is a Hindu and Muslim first name. In the Arabic language, Samir means "pleasant companion" in evening talk or "friendly" and in Sanskrit, Samir/Sameer means a gust of cool wind.
Are these the definitions you like? I think the meaning of a name can be important. Does it have the historical and cultural connection you want? Hindu or Muslin (for example).
I think it is fine name, but I prefer the spelling of Samir over Sameer.

This is an Arabic name for boys.

Are you trying to raise a future suicide bomber? That may sound insensitive, but it's sort of like naming a girl Candy, then she grows up to be a prostitute, blowing old men for dollars. Besides, Sameer means "one who commits auto-fellatio" in Hebrew. Duh, every shoolboy and his dog knows that.

Why would anyone make fun of him...kids don't make fun of names it's the person the make fun of...evn if a kid has a popular english name lik paul they would make fun of him because he is an easy target not because of his name...i love it it sounds hadsome....samira (sameera) if it's a girl
