Well, if i'm at the bank- i usually stare at the cute girls who are working there- lol ;-) or at the girls who are inline waiting....
sometimes i strike a conversatioin, complaining about how long the wait is... at most banks they have a tv screen with either a movie or the cnn news, which i usually watch- if there's a chair to sit down, i'd play games on my cell- or even take a nap...
hopefully i wouldn't miss my turn! ;-) and if i did, i go right back to sleep! lol hmm, in most places they have magazines as well, so i'd probally flip thru them- basicially anything that'd keep me busy until it's my turn! Good luck- i hope my info was helpful!

I have a handheld tetris that a friend gave me.It is great at the Dr.'s waiting rooms.I like to talk to others sometimes, but if you are with people that prefer not to chat, it can really help pass the time.

When I'm waiting in a line, I always have my mobile phone in my hand- either re-reading messages or sending some.

Just watch things around me, and think.. including all the people in and back of me..
or i just take out my mobile and play some mobile games
or I take out my notes and make some scratches on that until my turn..<-- my favourites.;

at a bank: i find myself on their security cameras tv screen and do little things like rock back and forth, scratch my nose, etc.
at a doctors office i'm generally not doing good so i'm generally doubled over whimpering until they can see me.

talk to someone... play games at my phone, sms someone.. read magazines... if u got nothin, then think of a really good topic to write about and make a long essay. example.. politics, something ur mad about.

either call someone for work purpose, or friends, update to do list or calendar, or read eBook from my PDA, or do some number crunching also on my PDA...
