I'm kinda confuse here, why do lots of people -young and old- who claim they're Witches wear Gothic outfit like a Rock-Star or Devil Worshippers? No offense here, I just want to know... please forgive me if I made some of you TRULY upset...
Well, my sister and I are still young and inexperienced in Witchcraft... we still don't even know us! In addition, we don't wear kinda typical or stereotypical fancy outfit as Witches...
I look like a typical geek or nerd but my sister is much more cooler, mysterious, and cunning than me. Still she has such good fashion sense and wear trendy and fashionable dress for a 19-year-old girl (or witch)...
Once again, i don't mean to offend any of you... I'm just so curious about it. And thank you for any of your feedback...

Hi....
I'm a "Witch" (Wiccan). Your question DOES NOT offend me in the least.
It's natural to be curious about something which you have no prior knowledge of, and there is no better way to find out about something than to ask. I applaud you for this.
To address the question of: "Why do lots of people - young and old - who "claim" they're Witches wear Gothic outfits". In all honesty, these people are purposely trying to look this way for a reason. They are neither a Witch or a practicing Wiccan. These people are basically "dressing for the affect". They enjoy being the center of attraction and purposely dress so. True Witches (Wiccans) DO NOT dress like the Halloween stereotype. Try thinking about it in this term: What does a Christian wear/look like? The answer simply is: They look just like everyone else and dress just like everyone else. The same is true of a Witch/Wiccan. Witches/Wiccans look like everyday normal people. You would probably be surprised at how many people you already know in your daily life, that are Witches/Wiccans.
Many of us can be found volunteering in Animal Shelters, working with Environmental Groups, etc.
I hope that my answer has helped you and your Sister to better understand Witchcraft/Wicca.
Bright Blessings......

I am definite that this isn't what you wish to listen to, however because the dad or mum of a youngster I might first begin via asking how your mother and father think approximately this. If they're OK with it then you're unfastened to continue and there's one set of instructions. If they're definately no longer OK with it then you definately have got to appreciate that. No reliable individuals will paintings with minors with out a mother and father consent. It is simply begging for every type of authorized hindrance. I am a Thelemite and a Ceremonial Magickian and I might be relatively annoyed if any one simply began instructing my teen whatever that I didn't approve of. Once you're 18 that's a WHOLE one-of-a-kind tale. You are nonetheless FREE to learn and research anything you pick. I advocate an oldie however a goodie Donald Michael Kraigs "Modern Magick". It has all the portions in it to provide you a well fundamental expertise of the way the procedure works. Once you realise the portions of what makes magick and magick then you're unfastened to begin delving deeper into the procedure. Good success and benefit from the travel!

gothic, rock-star, devil worshipper you speak of are commericalism at its greatest, black has always been the symbol for evil so in an atempt to look scarry these people chose to wear the color. But witches and wizard, actual witches and wizards did NOT wear this color. Black is a color of dye, is the color given when dyer has remains of other colors and did not want to throw them out for sake of prophet. Witches and wizards could not afford the cost of such clothing, so they rearly wore it. Also being what they are they wanted to stay incognito so they would not be bothered by people wanting spells, curses, or to kill them. in the mid 13th-16th centuries the roman-catholic church became very popular and grew wildly, hersey was bestowed upon those thought to have been witches and the like. But black has simply become the common symbol for them because religion being so strong in the word think magic evil the give it such a color. William shakespear and other authors of the theater are to attribute to this for there use of the color for witches in their plays, such as Hamlet. This lets the people of the crowd know that they are witches so they do not have to think are guess at the plot of the play. But in good history the preistesses of Avalon wore all white as to not offend their goddess, merlin himself only wore the color in winter and that was for the heat attraction of the color not for representation.

I think that people who break free from mundane conservative curlture sometimes find it liberating to express that freedom in their personal style. sometimes its gothic, other times its punk, hippie, what have you. I know lots of Witches, wiccan and otherwise who march to the beat of a different drum. I think that free thinking sometimes causes us to feel different than those of mainstream society and therefore be a little less conservative about style ans fashion.
My best friend is a Gypsy Witch and she's not Goth, but she definately dresses different. She likes to wear brightly colored tights and interesting shoes. She also has naturally bright red hair which gets her noticed.

Most people wear clothing to be noticed.
Just because you call yourself something it does not mean you are such a thing.
Sounds like you are still learning your own personal fashion style, stick with what makes you happy and don't judge others by what they wear.
Blessings on your path, Luna Aileen.

hmm i'll answer your question in this way. i am not a witch or wizard because i choose not to assert my mind in the ways of them. i use my mentality for fighting which is not done really in today's world. you are into witchcraft because it maybe because your a cancer and your life sign automatically gives you the starting knowledge of life and nature (same view as mine in a way). no witch or wizard in any real definition is set to wear 1 type of clothing and from what i learned a goth is a person who wants to gain the knowledge of the reason why they are here.
i don't know what you trying to gain but if i wanted to yes i can become a wizard and i'm very spiritual, also i don't care to look like others i am myself not ruled by others expectations. you haven't asked for what you wanted.

I look like a regular guy, and I like it that way. What I do spiritually to work with what some refer to as magic, is personal.
It's really not about looking like someone in this group or that, it's more about nurtureing your gifts. To be able to see clearly in the light as well as into the darkness. Too many wan-a-bees look like what you discribe, so what's that tell ya?
I'm Native American and I can do what I do without all the fancy stuff that would make me look cool. Believe me, the results I get are plenty cool enough to impress someone ... but that is not my intention to impress. I'm just the mediator.

I'm a witch, but not Wiccan, and I mostly wear earth-tones. In fact, I know a lot of witches, and most of them wear bright colors.
As far as dressing like rock stars, we've all got our festival gear.
