You can check out AVG anti-virus. Its worth it, and its free. I use it at home.

just do 2 things.

1-) Install free anti virus with updates (avast)
2-) Install free file removing tool (Cleanup)

Your system will be safe forever

Beware of any of that "free fix software" You'll down load it then it'll tell you your computer has a lot of problems. Then you'll have to pay to "upgrade" to get those fixed. Registry fix however did seem to help my comp. even though i had to buy it.
