I am taking a wild guess here that you are actually asking about the stall doors since I have been in many restrooms where the doors open out.The reason for the stall doors to open in is a simple little fact yet not so well known. It seems that long ago in early American culture that if one opened a door outward it brought bad luck unless one had just paid homage to the great turd god by making a two Pound sacrifice. Now I have to tell you if you let out this little secret you will be cursed with a common trailer park decease known as fartitise for at least three weeks every year around your birthday.

There are actually many bathroom doors that swing inward and outward both. I also believe that many swing inward to avoid hitting somone on your way out in the face, which would be painful. But yeah, when you have small stalls inward swinging doors can be a pain

I think it's so that u can avoid hitting someone in the face when u open the door....at least that's what I think.....but it is purdy annoying when u have to be up against the friggin toilet to open the door....good question though :)

LMAO!!! I always wondered that. I hope someone has an answer cuz that drives me nuts. You end up bumping ur leg on the nasty toilet just to get the door shut.

Simple....

If it don't lock or shut all the way or something, and some one tries to barge in on you.... You can more easly stop them.

If the door opened out, it would be MUCH harder to keep some one from coming in on you.

And why are they called "RESTROOMS". I expect a bed or a nice comfy place to lie down for a while.

So you don't smack the person waiting to get in. Years ago
the stalls were much bigger and there was no problem.
