place them on index cards to play memory games or relate them to every day items

repetition is mandatory....if this is for med school then ALWAYS remember that this will relate to some aspect of a patients illness. Of course no one can remember it all but try to envision what would happen if the organ you are studying goes bad. ie...if you are studying the soleus muscle, what would happen if there was a rupture of the muscle or a rupture of the Achilles tendon (happens a lot) what would the patient feel, what loss of function would result ?

what would happen if the spleen enlarged to twice the normal size ( happens in lymphoma) what changes would occur in the abdomen ?

it is a common complaint that anatomy students want more understanding of why they are memorizing thousands of details without knowing the clinical relevance.

also one good way to study (and allay fears ) is to regular study in a group format. ie...questions and answers...you will find that everyone struggles with anatomy.

good luck
