and once I get it I spend it, on mostly useless impulse buys, I want to save but then I get bored and go shopping...how do I stop?

Pay yourself first. You can't spend it if you never see it. Your old self will thank the smart young self that started saving.

Then shop at garage sales to save money on things that others thought they needed.
