problems with your footwork ???
1)just before the australian tour in 2003 surave ganguly took some advice from greg chappell. The key factor is the mind! try to have a clear empty mind.....and ganguly came up with that majestic 144 at brisbane.

* just like I said footwork depends on the ease with u approach the ball.In your case there might a slight fear for pace-bowling-what kind of ball do you use for playing?? Use some protection like gloves, pads. that removes the 'fear' part out of the equation. When u fear pace bowling you tend to clamp your legs together & that puts you to the back foot.try to draw yourselves to the front-foot.

2)technical part
* getting on the back-foot might give enough time to play a fast bowler. But for a fullish delivary try to get to the front foot.there is no better feeling for a batsman than driving a pace bowler .

*In the initial stages of the game your feet -movement might get tentative. here’s what I do-just because most pace bowlers try to pitch the ball up to u, try to draw yourselves to the front foot .feel the sound of wood hitting the leather .For a shorter ball ,play a firm defensive shot off the back foot with authority. It gives u so much confidence

3) Drills-
This one was introduced by Greg Chappell in the Indian team--mainly meant for sehwag. It helps in both hand eye coordination & footwork.
*Get a friend to throw a ball at you. Now, u are supposed to catch it (with a single hand, I think-not sure)--but in the process, get to the best possible position to play a ball of similar length. I don't know how much this works or if there are any more details to it. But it must be good or else they won't make international players to do this.

4) Playing mind games with bowler - fast bowlers are known for their aggression. Never let them take control. They feed on your fear! But u needn't play a blazing innings-all u have to do is to give them a sample of your technic ( follow this link for improving your general technic in batting. Its a link to an answer I recently gave http://answers.yahoo.com/question/;_ylt=Aq.rzGkEds2ItVg43Vk_p5vsy6IX?qid=1006060102109 )

Pace bowlers have highest degree of respect for players like Dravid. Make them feel you aren't an easy catch-give them an impression they have to earn your wicket

Things to keep in mind-
1) Get your front foot to the pitch of the ball
2) Leave not much room between bat & pad when u attempt a shot ( be compact)

**Players like ponting have an initial forward movement, then make adjustments according to the length. This is something u can try if nothing else works. This keeps your feet always in turbo mode)

*Through out the entire article I've stressed the need for a clear mind. Even Gregg Chappell, one of the greatest learners of the game feels so!!

I’m having so much work. But felt this question needs attention. Mail me if it works!!

Watch the ball very closely. Use you bat to knock around a cricket ball. You can also just knock the ball up in the air with the bat for as long as you can. This will improve your hand and eye coordination which will help you react faster to quick deliveries. Always keep you bat up before the bowler bowls. Don't lift it up after the ball has been bowled. Initially keep a low bat lift and don't try to hit too hard, just middle the ball.

Move your feet faster

try to use the pace of the ball by working it to the square, glance them, work it to the third man,

if its going to be fuller in length,if u can make the ball meet the sweet spots of ur bat ,u would surely enjoy getting runs against quicker bowler,

Try to be careful of the short ones

You just have to time the ball. And practice moving your feet movement. First, I would suggest get someone to bowl slowly to you. When they do so, just get your leg to the pitch of the ball without hitting it with your bat. Then after you feel good with it, get someone to bowl to you and this way you will learn it. And remember to watch the ball. If you keep looking at the ball, your reflexes will get your bat to the ball automatically.
