It's so hard for me to even see this person or have a good time with them because I cry and just feel like I can't do anything but watch them die.

I think the thing I would do, would be to continue to be a friend to them and help them to live in the moment and make as many positive memories as possible. Most dying individuals know that they are dying and want the people in their lives to be themselves and offer support but not pity.

Pretty much whatever I'd always done with the person- because we're ALL dying, a little bit every day. The best thing you can do is ask THEM what they would like or need from you. Maybe they want help tying up loose ends, maybe they'd like to do "normal" stuff with them like play a game or bake cookies.

Be there for them as much as you can. Let them be open with what they are going through. Sometimes people ignore someone who is dying because they don't know what to do or say. Offer practical help as well, if they don't need it they will tell you.

If I was taking care of the person, I would treat them with the dignity and respect that they deserve.Wether it be the way I care for them or the way I talk with them. I would make them as comfortable as possible and if they were close to me, I would cherish every moment.
