Space travel and cure for diseases.
(But I disagree, we haven't had many great inventions in the past 20 years - our progress has slown down. We went to the moon a long time ago, the first Ford went 50 mph, penicillin was invented during WWII- you would think we would have been to space more and have better cars and medicine.)
