It's controversial only because a bunch of people who have never seen the movie have been told by another bunch of people who have never seen the movie that it insults Jesus and will lead them into a life of drugs, promiscuity, animal sacrifice and uncontrollable masturbation if they so much as catch a glimpse of the trailer.
For most sane people however, there is no controversy.

Lies, trying to cause doubt about my Jesus. Young people with a mustard seed size of faith will lose it by believing this garbage. Most Christian adults are smarter and mature enough to hold fast to their faith, but I feel sad for the poor youth. Dan Brown needs a lot of prayer for what he has caused God's children.

Many people feel that Jesus need to be a virgin. The book and film explore the possibility that Jesus married Mary Magdalene and had a child. Some people think it is heresy.

if u ve seen the last temptation of Jesus Christ its on the same theme....however a bit more to it..... rest the book is best seller every novel- readin person has a copy and no doubt it is thee thriller....
movie is also pretty good kind of National Treasure type...my suggestion go watch!

the da vinci code challenges the basic roots of christianity. early christians believed that jesus christ ws immortal, but the movie says that he has a bloodline,and mary magdelin[i dunno the spelling] ws th mother of his child. this proves that jesus christ is human,and therefore not immortal.also, a secret society called the priory of sion ws entrustd 2 protect jesus's desendents
