I think each airline has their own stewardess training program. I believe you only need a high school diploma to get into one. Check with airlines like Southwest or United Airlines to find out.

College is a great idea, for anyone, but it's not required to be a stewardess. Learning one or more foreign languages can only be a plus. Communication skills are also extremely useful, in almost any career. Tell your sister, a good liberal arts education will help her in any career she chooses.

any sociology, culture courses, safety, first aid, cpr type courses, some schools that offer degrees in medical and criminal justice have thoses as well as emergency management, psycholgogy; anything related to cultural diversity, getting along with people, managing emegergencies, medical training, etc, will help her alot
