Ok, just to let you know. I love my girlfriend very much. We have been in this relationship for about 14 months now, and I thought it was going really well......

Tonight, she blew up at me, apparently jealous because I bring home a much larger paycheck than she has ever gotten in her life.

I am so confused right now. I thought it was great that I was earning a large amount, since it meant I could take care of her better. I never tried to be 'better' than her, or to rub it in that I make so much.

Please, any ideas? Right now, I am letting her have some space, but within the next few hours, I need to talk to her again.

It is truly hard when one person makes more money than the other . In some cases it can give the other person a feeling of inadequacy and it can also affect their self esteem . You can only reassure her that she has worth in the relationship . Explain to her how much she means to you , let her know that she has many talents that contribute to the relationship . Maybe she does more of the house work or she may buy the groceries or she may do many of the things that you can't do due to work . Compose your thoughts and figure out what she adds to the relationship and ask her what she need from you to help her to feel vital in the relationship , then let her know what you feel she does that contributes to the relationship . Try to show her that the things that she contributes to your life together is worth more than money to you .

Bless you, take some advice from an old married Happy person. My partner and I have been together for 25 going on 26 years. she has ALWAYS made much bigger paychecks than I have. She likes it. My Best Beloved looks at it as being able to provide a comfortable lifestyle and home for the both of us. You both need to talk it all out and figure out why she's feeling this way. 14 months is a relatively short time to be together..but very long considering today. Just keep telling her that you love her. It's not you're fault and it's not hers. You just need to talk. Good luck. If need be, email me. (but I probably won't respond until morning.) -- Mom

My fiance makes more than I do. I have to use my money to pay for our wedding, dates, and gifts for her. I dont know what she does with her extra money. She moved in with me at my parent's house, so she doesnt pay rent anymore. She was paying like 400 a month. She's gotten two paychecks since moving in and says that shes broke. WTF? Im not going to bring it up though, it would only cause problems. As men we have to be more mature than our women. I wouldnt apologize about making more than she does, that's just me. It doesnt make sense to apologize for being successful. Suggest that she goes to school, earns a degree, gets a good career while you support the both of you. Then she can work and you can stay home and take care of the children. Reverse psychology.

You don't need to talk to her, You need to talk to God. Just
because you have a larger paycheck is no reason for anyone
to get angry, unless you're an atheistic pinko commie liberal.

Maybe she was blowing off some steam. Sometimes those closest to us..bear the brunt of our frustrating days. Perhaps work is getting to her..and she wishes she could provide you with more.
