quit thinking about the end of the world as an enormous explosion and you'll quit looking for a quick escape. instead prepare for decades of waste and devastation which everyone will survive and have to suffer.

I'd find a bomb shelter underground and get food and stay in it with my family. You wouldn't necessarily die if it did happen.
