Since those in the top 5% income bracket pay more than 50% of all personal income taxes in America and still the liberals whine that it's not enough I wonder ... how much IS enough?

60%? 70%? 80%? 90%?

And should the working poor contribute at all? Is this whining about taxes just a thinly disguised attempt to force the liberal redistribution of wealth policies so favored by communitsts like you?

It's too bad none of you goddamn libs can read. My questions doesn't imply anything about what percentage of their income the top 5% of earners are paying. I specifically wrote that they pay more than half of ALL personal income taxes in the United States. Even with their accountants and lawyers.

Everyone should pay their fair share, but no one should be forced into poverty by the government. Whatever the percentage is, it should be enough to cover the expenses that the government incurs.

The current policy of allowing the national debt and budget deficit to run out of control while pushing tax cut after tax cut is irresponsible and foolhardy. If you ran your own personal finances the way the Bush administration runs our government's, you would either be bankrupt or in jail in the wink of an eye, probably both.

The top 5% income bracket also makes more than 50% of the personal income, so they should be taxed appropriately. The way you phrase your question makes it sound like they are paying 50% of their income to taxes, and that is simply not the case.

Why do the wealthiest Americans complain so much about paying their fair share for the infrastructure which allows them to accumulate wealth?

If anything, the wealthy should be taxed more. Take Social Security tax for example. Most people pay 6.2% of their income to Social Security. However, the wealthiest Americans pay less than 1%, because there is a cap on the income which is taxed. Does this seem fair? I think not.

To answer your follow-up:
1. I can read, can you?
2. If 5% of the people made 99% of the income, then they should pay 99% of the taxes. What is so difficult to understand about this?
3. Yet another example of conservative spin regarding taxation: There is a debate going on to eliminate the estate tax. If abolished, 1 trillion dollars would be eliminated from tax revenues in the next 10 years. Who would benefit from such a tax cut? Only the wealthiest 0.5%! Utterly insane, especially with our deficit!!!

The part idiots like you need to understand is the wealthy benefit from our roads, our military, and our educational system, just like everyone else. It doesn't matter if this wealthy person has their own business, or if they just own stocks and real estate and sip martinis all day. The fact is, their wealth increases on the back of the working class (always has and always will be). That the wealthy should pay a fair share is a no-brainer (and by fair share I mean equal percentage of their income).

Your conservative spin is bullshi+. Turn off Fox news for five minutes and think about where all that wealth comes from to begin with.

ha ha ha, I just wanted you to waste time and look it up. asinine.
Now try asimilate. Iraq will cost working class tax payers $2 trillion over the next ten years, you should pay for it. I will not. The Debt run up by Bu$h and Republicans in Congress is your bill not mine, you should pay it. I also think you should pay for the 23,000 trips taken by Congressman since 2000. You should also pay for the $80,000 Cheney spent going duck hunting in Texas and the Vacations Bu$h has taken on Air-force one. The country is going to hell in a hand cart and Bu$h takes Air-force one to Maryland to ride his bike. Why is it you think the working poor should pay your bills for you?
BTW, Kittykat is right on the money, I pay accountants to make sure i never owe any income taxes, you should try that.

Your logic...such as it is, is flawed. Any person with a substantial income has accountants, who, if doing their job properly, can greatly diminish that person's net income. To the point where they are paying nowhere near 50% of their actual income.

It's a shame all the tax money was spent on education for you, and you didn't take advantage of it.
