gay marriages offer no benefit to society. heterosexual marriage, in general, does. Of course one can find examples of straight marriage gone awry or providing no social benefit, but I dar say that no one can find an example of a gay marriage or union providing positive benefit for society.

i think this is the best answer
01) Being gay is not natural. Real Americans always reject unnatural things like eyeglasses, polyester, and air conditioning.
02) Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.
03) Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract.
04) Straight marriage has been around a long time and hasn't changed at all; women are still property, blacks still can't marry whites, and divorce is still illegal.
05) Straight marriage will be less meaningful if gay marriage were allowed; the sanctity of Britney Spears' 55-hour just-for-fun marriage would be destroyed.
06) Straight marriages are valid because they produce children. Gay couples, infertile couples, and old people shouldn't be allowed to marry because our orphanages aren't full yet, and the world needs more childre

I will compliment and every point you have.
1) Being gay is natural. There are even homosexual behaviour within animals. Homosexuality is natural as it helps to reduce the population of the world.
2) How is this possible? You just can't turn gay if you hang out with a gay person. I know some people who are gay in my school and I don't think they've turned anyone gay...
3) This will only happen if people are crazy enough... but there are dog-lovers out there who love their dogs more then anything in the world.
4) Who said blacks can't marry whites? It happens...
5) Whoever said this was even possible? Are you trying to say that every body in the world would have a secret desire to be gay?
6) Homosexuality (as said before) helps to bring down the population. The world doesn't need more children... we need less... there is less land on the Earth and the old people can take care of themselves...
So I conclude that if you got a problem with gay people, keep it to yourself. It's not up to you to decide how the world works... gay people are here for a reason and if you're not bothered to search for the reason then just go to your everday things... ((this statement refers to you if you were the one who typed the 6 points))

It actually isn't unnatural at all. Insenstive and Black Fedora animals in nature frequently engage in homosexual behavior, therefore homosexualtiy is not unnatural. True if an entire species of animal were to only mate homosexually it would die out but we aren't talking about species as a whole we are talking about individual members of a species. Individual animals as well as people engage in homosexual behavior. Preventing gay people from marrying serves only to disenfranchise a segement of our population rather than preserve our species since gay people will engage in gay sex with or without a marriage license.
Logical 373 your arguements are anything but logical. You have taken many of society's ailments and said that they are bad and that is why homosexuality is unnatural. You have stated that all these woes are bad and I agree they are, but no where in your arguements at all have you provided any evidence about how gay marriage causes any of this, in fact the only evidence you provide is that heterosexual couples cause this.
Black Fedora, you say that straight marriages have something beneficial to offer society. But if we are to accept Logical 373's arguement then actually we see that they may not be beneficial a majority of the time. I don't actually believe that just pointing out a valid point from another user's arguement. But your agruement is without logic as well, because currently our country by and large does not allow gay marriage, so it is impossible to say that it has nothing good to contribute to society if it has not been allowed. However, in other countries, England, Canada, Spain allowing gay marriage did not have a negative impact on society so what little evidence we have from a global perspective seems to mitigate your arguement.
Rob and EK are arugements are similar so I will address them together. Even if we take for fact that the Bible condemns homosexulaity (which we really can't look up the issue in wikipedia for detailed explanation) our country is a nation of many religions, not just Christianity. Some religions accept homosexulaity, so one could argue that not allowing gay marraige is actually violating their freedom of religion, although that seems rather an extreme case to make. A much more practical objection is that the constituion states that the is a mandatory seperation of church and state. So legally speaking we can't use religion at all to condemn or support gay marriage, therefore both your arguements are moot points.
Finally I would like to say that gay marriage is actually a right guranteed by the founders of our country. The document that establishes our political independence from england the "Declartioin of Independence" states that all men have the rights to "life, liberty and pursuit of happiness". Marriage is essential to invidiuals pursing their happiness. To deny two consenting adults that love each other the right to marry, is to deny their pursuit of happiness and thus truly violates one of the core tenents this nation was founded upon.

Americans r soooooooo crazy,
how can u even think about that,
The male have a certain role in the family & the female have a different one,so a normal family needs both,
but ur problem that u dont want any difference between them, and the funny thing is that u all think thats civilization & u beleive it,u fight to say that male&female r the same,
NO,they r not, they r totally different, each one was created to do a special role in life,,men work to get money and protect the family,,,and women r the qweens of the house and they take care of the man and raise&teach kids, which is a very important role, thats the nature even if u dont like it.
but lets see what happened when ppl changed nature:
Women go to work most of the time and dont raise their kids or take care of their husbands properly which resulted in loose family ties, kids learning from the street and dont respect their parents and dont care about them, girls get pregnant and have kids without mariage cause they think they r free to sleep with anyone ,and cause the mom is not there to give advice, she is at work!!!
Men cant find work cause women r taking the jobs(a lot of places like to hire women cause they r more pretty and atract more clients.
And now ppl r demanding to legalize gay marriage, to make the world more upsidedown .
I think u guys beleive that u can put new rules for life, oposit to the nature ,and this will be the begining of the end for ur civilization.

You left out the fact that Gay couples who get married could adopt kids and raise them in a loving home rather than letting those kids be raised in an orphanage.
I do not agree with homosexuality, but since I am not Gay I do not have that right to tell people what they can and cannot do. Homosexuals have the same right to pursue happiness just like you and me.
For those of you who say that God says it is wrong, Each and everyone of you do something everyday that God thinks is wrong. What makes one sin worse than another?

Pardon me, I am busy declawing and shaving my gerbil.
Actually, 06) is correct. The point of marriage is produce children. Apparently you are familiar with the rules of marriage in the Roman Catholic church.
The elderly are now being allowed to marry, but infertility is grounds for annulment.
Frankly, with a close to trillion dollar A YEAR deficit, soaring gas prices, and two freaking wars being fought in the Middle East, it just thrills me to death my government is taking the time out to discuss a hopelessly lost constitutional amendment to end gay marriage.
Just the best use of their time I can think of.
The whole thing, if you have not gathered yet, is so freaking stupid I could spit. Oh yeah, and I am heterosexual.
You got me man. I don't understand it either.

Making a law that states marriage is for a man and a woman will separate our country. Even though I am straight, I really don't care whether or not there is a law that bans gay marriage. I am pretty sure that Bush will try to send that bill to congress again and it WILL fail again.

You obviously either seek a stump from which to preach your vile filth or you haven't thought this through completely. There is no natural way for a gay "union" to be of any significance. It is strictly a game for those too immature to face life and facts. Even ignorant animals know which gender to mate with.
byderule (the writer below) has no idea what he is speaking about. If animal species were homosexual only, they would cease to exist...see they can't even figure out what is directly before them....they're so whacked out and bitter.

why do people insist that gay is not natural ,all of my life i have been in nature working with animals and plants and it is more common there than with people.in all species including insects and fish.
and as far as people are concerned in all great ancient civilizations it was regarded as totally normal .
the only culture that has problems with it is the recent followers of Jehovah and Allah(the same God)
and if any thing can be called unnatural it is them,
and as far as fertility is concerned ,the effects of overpopulation is destroying this planet.
And Bush ,Kissenger ,and prince Philip have all mentioned bringing down the world population by 60%
so what is the point of being fertile if the authorities are considdering genocide

You speak my language!!!!! At last, an intelligent person writes!!!!!!!!!!!!
P.S. Oh yeah, writer of "God doesn't approve....etc.", because we know what God approves of or doesn't approve of, don't we? And no one EVER does what God doesn't approve of, do they?
PPPS. Is it just me, or did some readers not get your point? Did some not get the sarcasm? Did some not read your whole "question"? Oh! why am I not surprised?
and another post script: What an evil, evil, unChristian-like thing to say mr. writer of "the gays have not contributed" garbage....I know two women who are married. They are excellent parents of a well-adjusted, intelligent daughter who is straight. One woman is a police officer. She has saved lives many times! Her partner is an artist, beautifying the world. And what about Michaelangelo? Or my dentist? Or my grandson's pediatrician. Or my prom date, back in '65, or...or...or....
Kepp your hateful, unChristian thoughts to yourself. Gays are born that way and God don't make no junk!!!!
