it worked before, but it just says "no disc" now. it says on the drawer that it is disc re-writable, dvd r\rw, and dvd rewritable. also, i have never been able to burn cds either. i do have a drive that just says "compact disc" though. any suggestions would greatly be appreciated! lol ty

This has happened to me a time or two, and I'm sure there are a ton of potential answers, but I'll tell you what has worked for me. I go to the Device Manager, find the particular drive listing, and right click on it and choose "Uninstall". You get the usual warning about it, but go ahead and do it. Then reboot your computer, and Windows should "see" the disk drive as new hardware, and re-install the drivers for it. That often works, and it's worth a try.

all of answer before are corect but if these fail the best solution for you is to replace it than have it fix. try to get a dvd burner it cost only $70
