One would think the United States. Yet, quickly after the Declaration of Independence was signed, individuals and business cooperatives began purchasing land tracts and resource rights. One of the busiest trades at the time was land surveying. Thomas Jefferson's father was one. Jefferson built a fortune at this level and was able to become a distinguished member of society. This led to a political career........
Currently, I believe the Chinese own the greater portion of the United States. Make no mistake, the seat of government has nothing to do with ownership. We live in a capitalist society where the depth of your pockets place you in a social tier.
If you examine the industrial markets of any given area, chances are that you can extrapolate which interests have the greatest amount of investment.
In Alaska, two of the biggest industries are oil and gas. One of the industry giants in the area may be Haliburton. One of the shrewdest investors with this economic powerhouse is Dick Cheney. To give you some idea of the type of figures he is accustomed to working with, he was awarded some 8 million dollars in tax returns. It can definitely pay to wield political power and make decisions that can expand your financial portfolio.

Alaska is part of the United States. Hawaii is also part of the
United States. They are the 49th and 50th states. I'm not
sure, but I believe Alaska is the 49th State (bought from
Russia) and Hawaii is the 50th State. 1949 and 1959
respectively is the year they became States. Like I said,
I not sure which one was first or the years they became
States, but they are the last ones to join the Union.
I sincerly hope that I helped you out.
