This whole attraction stems from the Oedipus complex that Freud spoke about. This attraction to women that reminds some men of their mothers stems from this fixation not being resolved in the earlier years. Yes that saying may be true but thats not the case in all situations . Socialization is key here, because in your case , your upbringing may affect how you see potential partners, and the certain attributes these persons possess that are attractive to you.

I don't think its literally that way. I believe that men feel more at home and kinda safe when a women they love have certain characteristics that may remind them of their mothers. I really don't think its a physical attribute. Its more like a characteristic and some form of unconscious realization that this new found love is similar in ways that resemble what you have known most of your life. Its a safe and comforting feeling to be with what makes us feel familiar and comfortable.

"Men are attracted to women who remind them of their mothers?" This situation is usually termed as 'Oedipus complex.' Check http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oedipus_complex

Your situation is the opposite of this kind of conflict. Well, it really depends upon your upbringing, whether your mother treated you right or not.

Oedipus Complex doesn't exactly apply to all men. It is just a concept developed by Sigmund Freud, a famous neurologist and psychologist.

I think that can go either way. If a man wasn't nurtured by his mother, he might hate women who remind him of her. Or he may seek out the same kind of woman in search of nurturing his unresolved issues (deep, huh? lol)

I asked my husband that one time. Then he QUICKLY informed me that I was nothing like his mother. He pointed out to me that it would be rather weird to date/marry someone that reminded you of your mom. Then he asked me, "Would you want to have sex with some one that reminded you of the person that bakes you cookies, and used to tell you to pick up your toys?" Although, some ppl might, most ppl would just think that it is weird.

I hope not, because my my mother in law is wretched-lol. I think some men like it that way because they want someone to take care of them. Not my style, personally.
