NO.
They're obnoxious, ugly, sometimes horrifying, and are only used by those too immature to use actual words. Emoticons would just bring about whole "questions" with ":)?" and then a bloody six-page list of little brats testing out their emoticon "skills".

i like smileys, but if yahoo answers got them i'd hope they put a limit on it, like one smiley per question, comment, or answer... cuz it REALLY annoys me when people overuse the smileys.
