Do you like to clean and fix things? If so, contact a cleaning service, school district, temp agency or big company and apply. Good luck.

You can become a janitor with the advice I'll give you, but better than that you can own your own cleaning company, make a great living, enjoy life while others work for you, with the same advice. Here's what I did. I purchased a few books authored by Jeff Campbell and The Clean Team, "The people who clean homes 15,000 times a year!" I read those books, as did my wife and her sister, and we started our own successful business. You can too. Get the books: Talking Dirt, Speed Cleaning, and later on, Spring Cleaning. And there are others to keep your interest up as you go.
Using the clean team method, you will be able to clean an entire, average size, house in 42 minutes or less from start to finish. Then you're looking at pretty big bucks for your trouble--like over $25.00 an hour each, but you don't charge by the hour--that's one of the best kept secrets--you charge by the job!
You need to call them at 1-800-717-2532 or just email them at www.thecleanteam.com and you can write as well to The Clean Team, 206 N. Main Street, Jackson, CA 95642 and ask for their catalog, which includes their books and all of their cleaning products--some of which you will need to get started on your own. If you think you can't afford to start your own business, by having to buy "products, a vacuum sweeper, and more, forget that and find a way to do just that. It will be a lot more profitable than just being someone else's janitor.
Also check with S.C.O.R.E., the Small Business Administration, and other government resources for addlitional financial and experienced help. Then enjoy your new business as it grows!

I started as a janitor at home.
Then at work, people don't clean up after themselves, and I can't stand the mess, and the janitors there don't clean up, so I in essence play janitor at work, if I'm going to be in that area.
Just pick the place where you'd like to be a janitor and apply.
I wouldn't do it at a hospital, because they clean up some serious stuff, and you have to be trained in how to clean up biohazardous material. Pick a place where it's not so messy ALL the time.

Well you need to find a place that is in need of janitorial services. Then you need to put a job application in with the human resources department. Then you will probably have to interview...if you do well, you might get the job of Janitor.
Cleaning on the other hand....that's the hard part!

Why do you want to be a janitor? Is this a life goal? My first guess would be going to the classifieds and looking under janitor. If you need experience go to the local hospital and volunteerr to clean up vomit and offal from the floors. Once you have that figured out you can go with pride (?) to your next job interview and say, "YES I am a Janitor and I Want This job!! And I DEMAND you pay me less than 13k a year"
I hope I have helped you relize this dream
