I've known people who joined the Army but didn't like it, and couldn't wait to get out. Does anybody know of anybody friend or family who got in and got out? The ones that did get out did they go on to better things and finally do whatever it was that they wanted to do with their life?

My hubby doesn't like it!!!! He was actually a Marine for 7yrs and got out the Marine Corp and went Active Duty Army, which he is now and hates it.. Once his time is up he said he's definitely getting out.. Since he's had so many years in he's going to make a career out of the military life but definitely does not want 2 be in the Army. Their deployments are the longest is one of the main reasons!

While my husband was in the Army for 3 years he only met one guy who hated the Army... so the guy acted crazy so that he could get out... and he got a medical discharge.

My sister was in the AirForce for about 2 years..; the Army promised her a better deal so she went with them... unhappily, a few months later, she went back to the AirForce. Said the Army was AWFUL, especially for women. I do know another guy who joined the army, recently, went to basic, and realised he couldn't make it there; he went "wacko"; the only way to get out is to enlist in another branch of the armed services or get yourself released on medical (4-F,, crazy). Unfortunately, crazy stays with you for the rest of your life!
Years ago, one of my brothers (during vietnam) went into the draft board ans let the know he was c.o... when that didn't work, he told them he was gay. They gave him heck and then released him... medical_ 4-F... He has never been able to get himself a regular job as this is on his "permanent record".. speaking of records, he does wotk in a record store right now...

He went into the Navy & didn't like it. He was not too far from his term being up before being discharged when he took matters into his own hands & got himself out early. He told his (I don't know the proper term) "commander" he was gay. This was back in the 1990's. I don't know if this works anymore.
He didn't know what he wanted to do with his life so he moved back home & worked in a restaurant. He then moved from one coast to the other & then back again. A restless soul is probably the best way to describe him. I moved far away & lost touch.
