Okay, thanks guys (and gals?)! Your responses prompted me to get off my lazy @$$ and find out for myself. According to espn.com the Red Sox player with the most seniority is Tim Wakefield (1995), then Trot Nixon (1996 (Real name: Christopher Trotman Nixon)), then Jason Varitek (1997). Thanks for your responses / stimuli!

I suppose I will end up choosing Paul M's answer as the best, even though I had listed the correct answer before he did. AND...Tek never played a game with the Mariners and made his Major league debut with the Red Sox in Detroit in July of 97...Trot nixon made his first mlb start on the last day of the 1996 season. It hardly seems that the comment that Varitek isn't even close is erroneous, but technically he gave the most complete answer. Probably should have kept to the answer and not strayed into the V-Tek issue, but hey...
